10-Day Birding Journey through Langtang Valley
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu & Godawari Reserve
- Meet your guide in Kathmandu and travel north to the lush Godawari area.
- Key species: Asian Paradise-Flycatcher, Plaintive Cuckoo, Asian Koel, Greater Coucal.
- Scenic evening and briefing at your hotel.
Day 2: Drive to Syabrubensi & Riverside Birding
- Stop near Syabrubensi to scan forest patches and riversides.
- Target species: Wood pigeons, Green-pigeons, White-throated Needletail, Hawkcuckoos, Cuckoos.
- Overnight in a riverside lodge.
Day 3–4: Syabrubensi → Bamboo → Khimche Ridge
- Trek up through subtropical to temperate forest along the route.
- Watch for Kalij Pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Himalayan Monal, Rufous‑throated Partridge, and Blood Pheasant
- Creeks and hillside terraces offer access to swiftlets, swifts, and cuckoos.
Day 5: Khimche to Langtang Village
- Continue toward Langtang, passing coniferous edge habitats.
- Possible sightings: White-collared Blackbirds, Red-flanked (Himalayan) Bluetail, and mountain warblers.
Day 6: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa & Ibisbill Spotting
- Early stroll along Langtang Khola targeting the famed Ibisbill—common in summer rivers.
- Alpine birds include Himalayan Snowcock and Tibetan Snowcock
Day 7: Explore Around Kyanjin
- Bird along treelines and ridge edges for Yellow-billed Chough, pheasants, and monals.
- Optional acclimatization hike up to vantage spots around 4,000 m.
Day 8: Return to Bamboo or Riverside
- Retracing the path downhill offers fresh views of forest species you may have missed.
- Ideal habitat to re-check for resident cuckoo or drongo-cuckoo species.
Day 9: Trek Back to Syabrubesi
- Hike through mid-elevation forest and farmland mosaics.
- Good opportunity for species like Hill Partridge, Turtle Dove, and green‑pigeons.
Day 10: Final Birding & Return to Kathmandu
